One month is nothing, I might live in a time hole with all those hours and days rushing by...and thats someone who is not taking any kind of drugs...well not to waste any more of that precious time here is the news:

There will be a DJ Aroma vinyl pretty soon: I did a remix for this great artist Sven Wegner from hamburg, the track is called bahamas storm and it has a fat minimal remix by DJ Aroma on the vinyl.

Another release that I recomend is aromamusic 040 the berlin flavours labelcompilation with lots of remixes and previously unreleased stuff, compiled by DJ Aroma. Check it out on Beatport or some other plattform, there is even a bonus mixed version available.

On Nov 1st we will be celebrating aromamusic 050 in Berlin with a big party in aquaritter.Artists from 4 countries are invited, we will show some movies and get the funkybunch together. Later in winter and spring we will play some tourgigs for that great anniversary with a battle of the live pa`s.

Update 18.07.08 ...Wir sind Berlin!/ We are Berlin !

So many things to tell....I will keep this short with all the details:

As you can see in the headline the summer in Berlin is progressing and Iam really looking forward to play a liveset as Discopunk on that party, last year it was one of the parties of the year, so this time we are working on THE party of the summer. Well, summer is in the city and the yearly outdoor midsummer party on schillingbrücke turned out to be a lovely one, plus the enthusiastic crowd in ritterbutzke afterwards it felt great to play. Only one thing I don`t understand: how can people be asking for playtimes of more than five hours ? I was completely smashed after 4 and the crowd was equally, what a party !

After some more days of hanging out in afterhours parties in the park and in the woods I finally arrived in Lisbon, trying to escape the Berlin party prison, ending up with another very small but equally lovely party for too long. *ha ha* You can book my room in the Betty Ford clinic soon I suppose !

But : I am working ! We are approaching aromamusic`s release number 50 which will be on the first of november in our favourite location in Berlin. More details when apropriate, but it means that we have lots of releases coming: there will also be a new Discopunk release called tipsy ep, with one very fluffy minimalhouse track and another minimaltechy one to shake hips with. Release end of july.
There is also another one coming before, which is a remix I did for swedish artist Tore Jarlo. Enjoy it, its crazy , absolutely 3am shit !

Stockholm_Berlin was a blast, very lovely experience, two real great parties and one person who thought he was a superstar....well you should skip this when your fellow DJs are better known than you are , especially when they are ten people and you are one...its sad and funny at the same time how some people lose control and a sense of reality in the wrong context. We rather lose control when we party, its healthier. Apropos party: stockholm_berlin was the start of a book project with some interesting theory about clubs and DJing and the entire scene, so you might be able to find some halfway intelligent exerpts on this page with the next update.

Springtime......I found a real nice one on the net for you: its a DJ set I played at a lovely party and somehow somebody put it on the web. Have no idea how this person managed to record it , but I like it , though I take no responsibility for it. I apologize for taking such a long time, but its really hard to always write two versions of the news and I can`t blame my german friends for their constant refusual to learn english, so I have to write in stereo..anyway here is the news: since the last update there is two new records out : one is the verkehrte welt ep (twisted world), the other one is my long awaited album berlin-zoo. I am very happy to anounce a real positive feedback on both of them. The goofy track is in the charts of John Aquaviva on third place and the zoo got featured in the german dance charts as well as on I-Tunes . Its a funny feeling to be listed amongst all that chart and dance stuff. Since you chose the english version I suppose you don` t understand german but here is an interview on the zoo album that I really like, also for the layout. Interview. (Link_Seite 2)

Currently I am staying in Lisbon till the end of march and I must say I really like this zoo, and let me tell you it is as much of a funky zoo as berlin is, only the animals have different looks and species, but the zoo fact remains. If anybody wants to attend the workshop in lisbon on sunday here is a link : future asked questions in sound design Another nice fact about Lisbon is, that my Internet is min. 10 times as fast as in Berlin, so I do not have to suffer the stupid post-reunification german cable problems any longer.

Back in Berlin I will be happy to celebrate with the stockholm crews a blastin party at 103 Club on march 29th. Any Interest in the party or the reading at the swedish embassy, have a look here

New Stuff !

I worked a lot and the result is two new releases: Goofy is a new track which is on the Kachelfunk compilation by Hamburg based Klanggut label. The second release is aromamusic number 21, its called International DJ Bums ep. That name is an allusion to the slammin summer I had when the ep was created. Now I returned to my studio in Berlin, rearanged and mastered it all and now its finished ! Both releases will be out on all the digital platforms like beatport , the CD compilation and the vinyl will follow later. I guess they won`t be out before january. There is also some new releases on aromamusic and new artists, a new division and some more content in english. >>www.aromamusic.com

I am currently finishing my album Berlin_Zoo and therefore need a DJ break. I can`t work on musicproduction the entire week and DJ on the weekend. Its too much for the ears and the soul, so I am taking a break, to prevent myself from losing the energy that I give. People tend to think DJing is so easy and glamourous, but thats only half the truth, to show up in a club, play and walk out with the pockets full of money. The other half is that I don`t want to play in the wrong places so I have to take care where to play and besides traveling is fun but exhausting. And don`t forget that labelmanagement is almost like a normal nine to five job. Last not least I need time to find inspiration which I get riding my bike in the woods, that needs also some time...so I canceled all the gigs outside of Berlin till november. After the album release I promise to be back, play more and seduce you with my energy again ;-)

Hallo Friends, dear trendhoppers,

just recently I saw a report about the imagetransfer of a fancy pair of jeans that was supposed to transfer the image of the goldminer to these fashion pants. The agency claimed that it was a pair of goldrush jeans because the traces of work could be seen on the fabric. Trust me it was quite some work , done by cheap labourforce in turky to put these traces of work on the pants, but thats another story. The main issue is that people in chic Berlin neighbourhoods think its fashionable to walk into their agencies, where the body is of almost no use for their work, wearing workwear in times, when almost all the labour that needs a body is done by underpriveledged cheap workers from abroad. Still, the people in charge in the offices want to have the sexappeal of the raw and muscular (male) body so they go into gyms to remodel their flabby bodies. Strange world and above all, more and more a staged world. Isn`t that strange, that its more and more impossible to be real, becuse the image and the real drift apart ?

Thats why I haven`t written so many news on this page lately: there wasn`t much news to tell, between labelework, party, DJing and producing. Everything else would have been some staged bla bla of a little discogirl longing to create an image, but thats not my issue and I hope its not yours either. So the only thing I can tell you is some real shit, like the stuff you can read in the Travelblog .
As you can see on the Play page I played a lot of gigs this summer, and to be honest after writing a 110 pages scientific work about the construction of the male body in 80`s and 90`s cinema (its only in german yet, but I might publish a short version in english) I can`t read any book at moment, my brain is dead and empty. But you may want to read the story about the Norbergfestival (Video>>) and my time at the partyprison in Stockholm. I haven`t made it to find all the stuff about the CCC camp where I was part of the audiovillage, but that was more nerdy than rock`n`roll anyway.
It was great to spend the summer traveling and playing all these gigs from portugal to russia via sweden, poland and back. It was a lovely experience to meet all these inspiring people and to listen to all that interesting music, from noise to techno to chinese folk music. All that inspired me to produce a new ep, called international DJ Bums which will be finished soon. Its an allusion to the great experience you can make traveling and playing music with all these different cultural backgrounds. Its the DJ Bums because festivals and DJing in the open is definitley more real than any disco is. To live in a tent and in a backpack for weeks brings you back down to earth and teaches you the authenicity of the real. Good experience for me and a lot of people I met. Plus I really enjoyed the mutual respect for the others` art, thats how the title came. The cool chicks from a DJ collective called SisterStockholm where so cool, they didnt hesitate to drag the shiny dj trolleys through the festival mud, they partied like wikings and I havent seen much of make up on them. So Intl. DJ Bums is also dedicated to these girls, great DJs not superficial at all and really in charge.

Last not least Intl. DJ Bums is dedicated to all the DJ friends worldwide, without them the glamour would only be lousy rock`n`roll.

Some news from the technical dept: I will play some gigs with a new invention which is a prototype: MTC is looking like a very large table which integrates a touchscreen, but its not only a screen. On this table we will run a sequencer which is used to drag synths and basslines with your hand, you can also drag them in the field and therby altering the tone or velocity or whatever. The next gig will be on sept.22 in Berlin. Its cool to play soundexperiments with something that you can`t buy. More info at: www.multitouch.de

For the winter I will have some bigger events which are more work. Also the sageclub was sold and so I don`t have a residency, but I must admit I like it for the moment to be free. Maybe I will like to have a residency again but for the moment its good not to do it. So please don`t think I am getting lazy, I am only more exclusive and be sure the gigs I play will be fine ones ;-)

Back from Sweden:

The easterweekend was a real berlinstyle partyweekend, finally ! Friday nite I played with DJ Deelay at Raumklang, a small but sweet venue in Friedrichshain, with an excellent soundsystem and nice people. Good surprise, that was our first time there. We had a cool livesession with the Tritamin videocollective, just like in a real large size cinema with handmade computervisuals! Saturday after only some hours of sleep the weekend continued with one of these amazingly big and beatiful underground locations that berlin is famous for: Aquaritter, a new , well I do not want to say venue, since the place is definitly not a club, but very charming and a mixture between a warehouse and an illegal open air party in one of the parks in summer. It was definitly worth it and playing a livepa as Discopunk was much fun for me with some deep and dirty basstunes, quite minimal at times but always groovy and good for a smile. Since in German synthesizers are called "carpets" , this was a magic carpet ride . Lovley DJ Sven Dohse who played after me made us stay much too long and let us do stupid funny things. Thanx for that brilliant DJ Set, wow. It seemed that night everybody from all the other parties also showed up, so there were a lot of DJs partying in the end.....much too long. Also great was the performance of the other Live PA Donna K, that guy f++++rocked! So we endet up sunday nite at the sageclub where Kenny Larkin played a lovley oldschool set, which was damn good for that sunday nite. Igot the impression that everybody was out that weekend and we stayed much too long at Sage for Emmerson`s DJ set and danced our butts off.
You probably ask yourself now, why all this party bla bla ? Because, I have been away for almost three weeks and I ve seen nice and lovely parties, but I was dying to go out for a whole long weekend, and now I could get rid of all the energy, having fun playing myself and listening to a lot of real good stuff to party. And it was good to see that Berlin still rocks...yo ! So now I can come back and relax ...and I start to miss the people I was on tour with...they are all brilliant artists...check them out, here is some links.

Did I mention that I can still sisten to "bodylanguage" and do not get bored of it even after a million times ? Well, touring in sweden is whole lot of fun and rock`n`roll. The good thing about a groupof DJs is to be connected with five other maniacs instead of stange suits looking at you like you were a weirdo, as it happens normally on airports after a party weekend. We have been to Stockholm, Malmö and Linköping yet, but there is more to come.
Acouple of reminders are necessary though: 1.) Advanced ahead management, there is no way to get beer after a certain hour, so be prepared ! 2.) Clubs close early, that doesn`t mean you get to bed early though. We all suffer funny insomnia. 3.) Berlin ! 4.) The swedes are a fun crowd once they started to dance, very relaxed and friendly people. 5.) Did I mention earlier that I always hate Berlin when I am home for more than a week, but it does not even take me 48 hrs. to miss it once I am away...6.) DJs and musicians can have decent food and decent conversations and still party....hä ?
