general:

This workshop focuses on the special workflow with ableton and shows how to work effectively on your liveset and song. We will talk about sounddesign and the aesthetic outlines and demands of the minimal/electronica genre. Then we will put these needs into effect, having a lot of fun with producing in real time. In the end we will have a ready arrangement in only two hours.
The participants will be asked to bring their laptops and headphones, so they can work with their computers and participate in the huge session, which will take place after the workshop.
We will use Ableton live 7 for the class, but Aroma will also show some of the upcoming features from live 8. We will exclusively use the built-in Abletoneffects and instruments.

Drumracks: How to use ableton as a drumsequencer and brush up your groove.

Simpler: Use Simpler as a great source with a midicontroler, cut up and record the hook.

Sounddesign basic: Gate, Compressor, Sidechaining, Analyzer

Sounddesign advanced: Focusing on the ableton effects, which can almost work as instruments.
(Especially: Redux, Beatrepeat, Resonators, Grain Delay, Dynamic Tube)

Sounddesign classic: How to use and abuse Delays, Flangers and Filters in General.

Make an arangement and switch from session view to arrangement view.

Automation, CPU problems, Final Mastering and last Notes on the ready piece.

Low Cost High Tech: Aroma will use a lowcost new generation Netbook (NC 10, Samsung with Atom 1,6 Processor) for the workshop and prove that its not a matter of expensive gear but your skills to handle it.

Participants will get a download link to all the samples used, an ableton file showing the different steps and a manual to re-read the workshop.
